A New Year begins!

So if you follow us on social media, you'll have seen that I mentioned a reset for the new year and that's what I'll be working on throughout January.  More for me than the business but as with every small business, what affects the owner, affects everything about the business and we are irrevocably entwined!  I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.  The Booftique has been my passion for the past eight years, and it continues to hold that place in my life and my heart.

This year has been, well....brutal.  The loss in my personal life has been tremendous and I realized after over 60 years of being on this earth, that self-care isn't selfish!  Imagine it taking a person that long to realize something so simple!  I've been so focused on growing the Booftique the way everyone else expected it to grow that I neglected to think about all the ways that growth would affect me personally.

If you've ever heard of the spoon theory, you'll understand.  I think I ran out of spoons for the whole year around February.  I've been borrowing spoons for a long while.  As a person with narcolepsy, my life is never NOT interesting.  When I have access to my medication, I'm unstoppable.  When I'm at shows, that passion keeps me awake and engaged, and of course I love meeting your dogs and seeing photos of them.  I love talking to you about your dogs and yes, cats too!

When I'm not medicated, well......that makes everything a little different.  The crash after a show can last for a day or two, to a week or more.  Add in being a caregiver for my mother, who is blind and lives alone, and the eight or nine hours I have awake quickly evaporate into never enough hours in the day.

I could type so much more, but I'll tie it up here because I just wanted to share a little bit about my every day with the people I care about in the hopes that it will open a little window into the life of the Booftique.  I will continue to work to make the Booftique better, in ways that work for everyone this time!  You'll see a new website, new displays, new products, and maybe even new shows!  I have so much I'm working through in my head, and i hope to start unveiling VERY soon!

I'll continue to ask for grace and patience, but I will also do everything I have within me to ensure that the new Booftique is everything you've come to expect and so much more!

I hope your new year is everything you could wish it could be and more!

Oh, and tell your dogs I said hi!
